What's new

Every change you'd notice in the app, newest first.

  1. Sign-in codes, quieter email and a faster API

    • SecuritySigning in with a password now asks for a 6-digit code from your email. Tick "Trust this device for 30 days" to skip it on your own devices; an authenticator app or a passkey replaces it.
    • SecurityAny account can make recovery codes now, with or without an authenticator app. Each works once, in place of any sign-in code. Settings, then Security.
    • EmailMilestone emails for long streaks, records and every fifth level, which you can turn off. A habit's name never appears in an email subject or a push title. Still no newsletters and no marketing email.
    • AppThe API moved to Cloudflare's network, so most screens load noticeably faster.
    • Your dataPaceStreak is open source again: the API, the app and the websites are public on GitHub under AGPL-3.0.
    • Your dataA full copy of the database is now taken off-site every night, on top of the restore history.
  2. Faster everywhere, and an undo for everything

    • AppA command palette: Ctrl or ⌘ K to jump anywhere, tick a habit or search. G-then-a-letter shortcuts, and ? lists them.
    • AppSearch everything you've logged, and a one-day view of training, habits, food and mood on any date.
    • DataUndo after every delete, and a 30-day trash that restores habits, sessions, meals, recipes and journal entries with their history.
    • HabitsSwipe to complete, long-press for the amount, and select several days on the calendar to fill them in at once.
    • HabitsReminders with Done and Snooze buttons, snooze from the habit page, or one evening summary instead of a reminder each.
    • AppLog the last session again, or copy yesterday's food, in one tap.
    • AppShare a photo into the app to scan a barcode or save a progress photo; new home-screen shortcuts; pull to refresh; a habits-left icon badge.
    • AppLarger text, compact layout and high contrast, and screens that remember their last tab.
    • DataAn opt-in monthly email with your export attached.
    • AppFixed: reloading any page, or opening a shared link, took you back to Today.
    • HabitsPlan a habit for chosen weekdays, and pause one habit on its own.
    • TrainingImport your history from Strong, Hevy or FitNotes; filter plans by goal and gym; a whole-plan calendar; rest remembered per exercise.
    • AppSelect sessions to tag, move or delete together, with Undo; quiet days with no reminders; the backup email can come weekly.
    • TrainingThe exercise library grows to 283, with every common variation of each movement, and 22 built-in plans: five by five, push/pull/legs, upper/lower, dumbbells at home, bodyweight, kettlebell, lift-and-run, cycling, swimming, rowing, walking, mobility and more.
    • TrainingSix new cable exercises: V-handle, neutral-grip and wide neutral-grip pulldowns and seated rows, each with a cue for which part of the back it biases.
    • TrainingLoad the bar: pick your bar (remembered per exercise, so the EZ bar stays the EZ bar), tap the plates on one side, and the total goes straight into your next set.
    • TogetherReact to a post with one of five presets instead of plain kudos: kudos, on fire, strong, star or love it. Nothing typed, so nothing to moderate.
    • TogetherCoaches get one Coaching screen for everyone who shares their training with them, across all their groups, with anyone who needs a nudge at the top. No share, no row; habits never appear.
    • AppThe app now offers to install itself at three moments: your first visit, your first visit on a later day and after your first logged session, once each. Settings > App still installs it any time.
    • AppFixed: signing out, or someone else signing in on your device, could lose a session that hadn't synced yet. Unsent changes are now kept for you and come back when you sign in.
    • AppFixed: reloading the page at the wrong moment could sign you out on every device.
    • HabitsFixed: the home-screen badge counted habits that were paused or not planned for today.
    • Your dataClearer privacy policy and terms: who runs PaceStreak, the legal basis for each kind of data, that data is stored in the US, and a correction: backups are a 6-hour restore history. You'll be asked to accept them once.
  3. Food, insights, a journal and habit routines

    • FoodLog meals with calories and macros against optional daily targets; save foods and recipes; copy yesterday's meal in one tap.
    • FoodScan a barcode from a photo and fill in the numbers from Open Food Facts. Only the barcode is sent, never who scanned it.
    • FoodAn energy-burn estimate from your own food log and weigh-in trend, with a gentle suggested target toward your weight goal.
    • InsightsPatterns in your own data, like how sleep relates to the habits you keep, shown only when they pass a statistical test.
    • TodayA daily coach note about yesterday's food, and a one-tap mood check.
    • JournalDaily mood and a note, a year-in-pixels grid, and search.
    • HabitsRoutines you step through in order, a focus timer for minutes habits, and import from Loop Habit Tracker or a CSV.
  4. No more dead ends in sign-up and sign-in

    • AccountVerifying your email now takes you straight into the app instead of leaving you on a confirmation screen.
    • AccountSigning in with an unverified address now takes you to enter the code, instead of a resend button with nowhere to type it.
    • AccountA signup that partially succeeds no longer shows a confusing "already registered" error - it sends you on to verify instead.
    • AccountEvery password field has a show/hide toggle.
  5. Verification and password reset by code, not link

    • AccountConfirming your email, resetting your password and changing your address now use a 6-digit code you type in, not a link you click.
    • AccountWorks everywhere a link didn't: read the code on your phone, enter it on your laptop.
  6. A new look: the wall calendar

    • DesignThe whole app, this site and the blog take the structure of a wall calendar, kept on the near-black and lime look rather than the paper-and-red version tried and set aside the same day.
    • TodayA tear-off date page beside your whole-life chain, and this week as a calendar board: one row per habit, seven boxes to cross off.
    • HabitsTicking a day draws a marker X over it; part-done days get a stroke, slips a ring. Each kind of habit has its own marker colour.
    • HabitsA month calendar for every habit, notes on any day, and a quick sheet with steppers and presets for amounts.
    • BodyTape measurements from neck to calf, and optional backup of progress photos to your account.
  7. Beyond training: habits

    • HabitsTrack anything worth doing regularly: 68 ready-made habits across health, learning, mind, people, focus, money, home and creative, or your own.
    • HabitsTick it, count it or time it, each with its own weekly streak and a slow-moving strength score.
    • HabitsBreak a habit with clean days: a slip is logged, never punished, and it stays private.
    • HabitsSkills with a long goal and a date at your current pace; cues, reasons and a reminder at the hour you choose.
    • HabitsFill in or fix any day in the last 60.
    • StreaksAn optional whole-life streak across training and every habit, with its own leaderboard.
    • XPHabits earn XP, capped so they can't be farmed; four new badges and a new weekly quest.
  8. Race plans, training blocks and adjusting a rough day

    • PlansTrain for a race: 5 km to marathon, built to race day with a taper and a recovery week.
    • TrainingTraining blocks with reps in reserve that step down week by week, then a lighter week.
    • TrainingOptional soreness and pump check-ins that suggest a set more or fewer.
    • TodayNot feeling 100%? Adjust today: lighter, hot, unwell, short on time, or rest. It still counts.
    • TodayA three-tap morning check-in, and a nudge when yesterday's legs and today's run collide.
    • ProgressTraining load by week, with a warning when a week jumps well past your usual.
    • SessionsHeart rate and time in zones from imported GPX and FIT files.
    • RecapTwo lines to look back on each week, searchable later, and share images made on your phone.
    • Getting startedThree days in your first two weeks: short sessions count.
  9. Weigh-ins, quests, gyms and a monthly strength recap

    • BodyWeigh in several times a day, tagged after waking, before or after training, or before bed, with a 7-day trend and the change in kilos and percent.
    • BodyAn optional private weight goal with small milestones and a projected date. No rewards attached, on purpose.
    • BodyProgress photos with a side-by-side slider. They stay on your phone and are never uploaded.
    • TrainingType sets as 100x5x3. Search forgives typos. Pin a note to an exercise.
    • TrainingGyms: the exercise list and plate calculator fit what each place has.
    • TrainingA 10% step back when a lift stalls, optional auto-fill of suggestions, and a card when one lift stops moving.
    • ProgressA recovery map, strength standards if you want them, a monthly strength recap and a PR streak.
    • StreaksAn opt-in wager: one extra day earns a freeze, and missing it costs nothing.
    • XPThree weekly quests for habits, never for volume.
    • SocialLeaderboards among people who train about as often as you.
    • OfflineWeigh-ins and measurements save with no signal and sync later.
  10. Recovery, smarter reminders, supersets and plans together

    • SecurityLost your password and your email? A two-factor recovery code sets a new password. Change your email address from Settings.
    • Getting startedA short checklist on Today for your first days: training days, a first session, reminders, a passkey.
    • StreaksReminders can learn when you usually train and arrive an hour before.
    • StreaksSuggestions for a lighter week after a hard block, and for starting again gently after a streak ends.
    • ProgressMonthly goals, and rest days you log on purpose, marked on the grid.
    • TrainingSupersets, one-tap warm-up sets, and kilometre splits from imported runs and rides.
    • TrainingShare a plan as a file, and import one.
    • SocialChallenges where everyone follows the same plan.
    • SocialCoaches can suggest a plan; group owners can post announcements.
    • SocialA nudge when your buddy is one session short near the end of their week.
  11. Passkeys, training plans and buddy streaks

    • SecuritySign in with a passkey: fingerprint, face or device PIN, from a button or the email field's autofill. It counts as two-factor on its own.
    • SecurityMake a new set of two-factor recovery codes from Settings, and get a warning when you're running low.
    • TrainingTraining plans: start from one of four templates or build your own. Today shows the day's session, and what you log completes it.
    • TrainingAn interval timer for intervals, EMOM and Tabata that keeps time correctly with the screen locked.
    • TrainingPrivate tags on sessions, and search across notes, titles, exercises and tags, offline.
    • TrainingGear: track how far your shoes and bikes have gone, with a replacement reminder.
    • TrainingProgression hints for bodyweight exercises and timed holds.
    • StreaksBalanced weeks: a streak can ask for at least so many days of a kind, like two runs and a strength day.
    • StreaksConsistency over 12 and 52 weeks, alongside the last 4.
    • StreaksTravel: when your phone changes timezone, switch to it or pause the streak for the trip.
    • ProgressA year in review, and a timeline behind every personal record.
    • SocialBuddy streaks: a week counts when you both keep yours.
    • SocialGroup streaks, with a threshold the group's owner sets.
    • SocialEncourage someone with one tap, from six kind messages. No free text.
    • AppThe icon badge can show the days still to go this week.
    • Your dataAn opt-in monthly reminder to download a backup. Exports now include tags, gear and plans.
  12. Pauses, planned rest and your data, your way

    • StreaksPause the streak for injury, illness or life. Weeks it covers can't break it.
    • ProgressPlanned rest days show on the grid as rest, not gaps. A weekly recap every Monday.
    • Your dataImport GPX, FIT and CSV files from a watch. Subscribe to your training as a private calendar.
    • SocialMute a group: nothing pushed or emailed, everything still in your inbox.
    • AppLong-press the home-screen icon to jump straight to logging.
